Dublin's Archbishop Diarmuid Martin told a Catholic gathering in Rimini Italy that there is ''no serious Catholic press'' in Ireland, at least not like those in Italy or France!
Having translated the archbishop's speech - there was no English translation provided - The Irish Catholic would like to remind the archbishop that it was the international media and international Catholic Press who recently carried The Irish Catholic's exclusive story of three lines hidden away in the Archbishop of Dublin's three-page letter, released in August only to clergy, which in passing mentioned that the Pope had refused to accept the resignation of two Dublin bishops. And that he went on holidays the day he posted the letter and was unavailable for comment to newspapers in Ireland, France and Italy as well as the rest of the Catholic world. Perhaps the archbishop could try to be less concerned with the 'serious' media in France and Italy and make himself available for interview to this newspaper, lest, as Vaclav Havel has said: ''Anyone who takes himself too seriously always runs the risk of looking ridiculous.''
