It might surprise you to hear that Avatar is a religious movie, but it is, well, sort of. The blue-skinned Na'Vi are very religious and we're invited to admire their nature-worshipping religion. Their religion is part of the appeal of the Na'Vi and we're also invited to feel horror when the bad guys attack the very heart of their religion at the end of the movie.
